93rd National Session of Jr. O.U.A.M. Sunday June 18th The National Council Board and the National Board of Control met at 6:00 to take care of some business before the convention. Monday June 19th 8:00 A.M. Golf Tournament at the State Park Golf Course - 3 teams in a 4 person scramble. 4:30 P.M. - Registration 6:00 p.m. - Opening Reception with Past National Councilor Greg Frye as the M.C. for the evening. After the Pledge of Allegiance, led by Nat. Conductor Louie Jump, KY, and Invocation by Nat. Chaplain Lester Dolton, PA; Brother Frye introduced K. C. Bohrer, Sheriff of Morgan County who gave the group a warm welcome to the area. Afterwards, West Virginia State Senator Charles Trump was introduced and shared facts about West Virginia and welcomed everyone to the Mountain State. Brother Frye introduced all the National Officers. Seth and Josh Place presented the entertainment for the evening as they sang "Hymns for Him". Everyone enjoyed the presentation as some sang along with them. After the Benediction by Chaplain Dolton, 8 baskets of goodies from West Virginia were given as door prizes. Everyone enjoyed all of the food that had been prepared. Monday's opening was a great success. Tuesday June 20th - 8:30 A.M. Lester Dolton of PA, National Chaplain conducted the Memorial Service. 7 members of the National had passed in the last 2 years and flowers were laid in honor of each one. 9:30 A.M. First business session was opened by National Councilor Dennis Everett of West Virginia. 4 new representatives were received into the National Council, also several visitors were in attendance. Committee reports were made. Resolutions were presented and acted on. Councilor Everett presented National Secretary Vickie Smith a Past National Councilor's Jewel for her past 12 years of service, making her the first lady Past National Councilor of our Order. Councilor Everett also presented Vickie and her assistant Crystal Coatney each a gift for their outstanding work in the National office the past 2 years. They each received a beautiful patriotic quilt, handmade by Brother Everett's daughter, Lisa. Two visitors from the State of New Jersey and one from the State of Virginia were introduced; Bill and Carole Moore from New Jersey and Brother Nathan Smith of Virginia. Distinguished Service Medals were presented by National Councilor Dennis Everett to Wayne Vandermark of New York, Russell Wheatley of Maryland, Paul Zimmerman of West Virginia, Bill Potter of Tennessee, and J. F. Workman of Tennessee. 1:00 P.M. Nominations of Officers for the term 2017 - 2019 were made: Nat. Councilor - Charles Riehs of North Carolina; Nat. Vice Councilor - Rick Beppler of PA; Nat. Treasurer - Wayne Vandemark of New York; National Board of Control - Don Wyatt of Kentucky and Nat. Conductor - Gary Louie Jump of Kentucky; Nat. Warden - Bruce Hust of Ohio; Nat. Inside Sentinel - David Kendig of West Virginia; Nat. Outside Sentinel - Allen Sajnacki of New York; Nat. Chaplain - Harry Laudenslager of PA and Next place of meeting - North Carolina. More business and resolutions were acted on to finish the afternoon. 6:00 P.M. - The Banquet was enjoyed by 81 people. Brother Greg Frye was the M.C. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Louie Jump, KY, Invocation by Lester Dolton, PA. The D.J. for the evening was Swinging Verg who played 50 and 60 music. During the evening about 35 door prizes were given to those in attendance. Everyone enjoyed the evening very much as they danced and fellowshipped with each other. Wednesday June 21st - Officers were elected and then installed by Past National Councilor Jim Wolfe, NC. Final business acted on. The 2017 Session was closed in prayer by newly installed Chaplain Harry Laudenslager, PA. Board of officers and Board of Control met once again following the convention.
