​Maryland attends the
Ninety-Fourth Regular Session of the National Council
Junior Order United American Mechanics High Point, North Carolina June 16-19th 2019
 
The session started on Sunday June 16, 2019 with the National Finance Committee and National Board meeting being held in the Kittinger Room. On Monday, the members held their regular Golf event, and also a tour of the American Children’s Home. The Registration was held for the members from 4:30 p.m. untill 5:30 p.m. The host state North Carolina, had an Opening Reception, with good food and an excellent music duo starting at 6:00 p.m. On Tuesday morning, the National Session opened with a Memorial Service conducted by Brother and Past National Councilor Greg Frye, WV. We had a special service for the following National Officers who had passed away.  A flower was placed on the alter for the following Brothers:
Brother Robert Jester Maryland Past National Representative
Brother Jack Zickafoose Maryland Past National Representative
Brother Lester Dolton Pennsylvania Past National Chaplain
Brother James Workman Tennessee Past National Councilor/ Past National Secretery
Brother Harry Pickens West Virginia Past National Chaplain
Brother Jim Pritt West Virginia Past National Law Committee
Gone but not forgotten.
Brother Frye spoke on the 23 Palms, and broke down the verse of the letter King David had written.
The regular business session started after the Memorial Service, with the National Councilor Charles Riehs opening the National Session in due form. Several resolutions were passed some were about the National Session: Fixing of hours, Election, paying the bills of the session. Resolution number 4 was read and passed. This resolution was about protection, and holding people responsible for damages to War Memorials. There were several outstanding service awards given out to brothers and sisters. The following received awards: Brother Jim Wolf Past National Councilor NC, Sister Crystal Coatney Claims Examiner for the Insurance Department  TN, Vickie Smith National Secretary TN, Dennis Everett Past National Councilor WV, Joyce Everett State Secretary WV, and later in the day Judy Byrd Chairperson of Convention Committee.The second business session was reopened after lunch break with the nominations of officers for the following offices: National Councilor, National Vice Councilors, National Secretary, National Treasurer, Conductor, Warden, Chaplain, Inside and Outside Sentinels.     Also there was a lot of discussion of the Junior Order Insurance Department the paying out claims, and the Pennsylvania Insurance Department. The National Board has made great effort to find members with un-claimed policies. The National Session Banquet started at 7:00 p.m. with great food and a guest speaker from the North Carolina State Police. The host state North Carolina had a lot of giveaway prizes. After the giveaways they had an auction by Brother Dennis Everett WV of Junior Order dishes with Junior Order and Eastern Star symbol the dishes were donation by Empire Council NY. On Wednesday morning, we had a short session for the election of officers and other deferred business/ new business.  The new officer of the National Council are as follows: National Councilor Rich Beppler PA, National Vice Councilor Bruce Hust OH, National Secretary Vickie Smith TN, National Treasurer Wayne Vandermark NY, National Past Councilor Charles Riehs NC, National Conductor Gary Louie Jump KY, National Warden David Kendig WV, National Chaplain Steve Workman TN, National Inside Sentinel to be appointed by Council, National Outside Sentinel Ray Arnie MD. A good time was had by all who attended. Many thanks to the State Council of North Carolina.
