Dear Brothers and Sisters:
Our Junior Order United American Mechanics is a fraternal organization for men and women was founded on Virtue, Liberty and Patriotism. We have always been proud, respectful and deeply devoted to displaying and saluting our American flag, proudly saying the Pledge of Allegiance, standing for our National anthem and very thankful for all the men and women who have fought to keep our nation free. We never want to forget the lives lost, black, white, red or yellow, in defense of our country. The recent act of not showing the proper respect for our anthem and flag at events is very disconcerting. We, as Juniors, must defend the American flag and what it stands for by honoring our patriotic creed and standing up against those who do not. Using the anthem and our flag disrespectfully to speak out against racial injustice is a moot point. Let’s encourage those who would sit during the playing of our National anthem to channel their efforts and resources to change what they feel are racial injustices. To begin this change, they might start with those youngsters who look up to them. Speaking and showing them how great our country is, talking with them about what is good as well as what is not would provide a starting point for making the changes necessary for a better America. Embracing change is a hard task but it must be done with respect for all. Changes that strengthen and benefit all must be given an opportunity to mature. Yes, we need to correct an injustice when it is identified and we need to do it by working together but we also need to look for a solution that promotes growth that will solidify America’s greatness for the future. We need to use this opportunity to let our neighbors, co-workers and strangers know about the Junior Order and its strong belief in Liberty and Patriotism. I ask that each of you, as a Junior and as an American, speak out about the proper respect for our national anthem and our flag. Yours in Virtue, Liberty & Patriotism Dennis R. Everett National Councilor

To commemorate the September 17, 1787 signing of the Constitution of the United States, Congress designated September 17 of each year as Constitution Day and Sept. 17 - Sept. 23 of each year as Constitution Week.
This September 17, 2016 is the 229th anniversary of our Constitution ! Each educational institution that receives Federal funds for a fiscal year is required to hold an educational program on the United States Constitution on September 17th (or at some point during Constitution Week), for it's students. Therefore, we would like to encourage our Junior Order councils to contact a school in your community and encourage that school to teach about our U.S. Constitution to their students during Constitution Week. The National Council has pocket size copies of the U.S. Constitution for just $1. each. These could be presented to your community school, along with a Resolution from your council encouraging them to teach and uphold our U.S. Constitution. Please contact the National Secretary at nationalcouncil@comcast.net if you would like to order some pocket constitutions. To be sure you receive your pocket constitutions in time, please order no later than Sept. 6th. You can place your order by e-mail, at nationalcouncil@comcast.net. Please, include your name and mailing address and your council's name and number.. Also your phone number in case we need to contact you. (Dear Readers: please note, we can only sell to Jr. Order Members and Jr. Order Councils). The National Bowling Tournament was a success ! The bowlers from Ludlow, Kentucky ran away with the show this year..., taking most of the first place prizes. We want to thank everyone who participated....and a special Thank You ! to Brother Wayne Franklin who works hard each year to put this tournament together for everyone to enjoy.
The next National Bowling Tournament will be held May 20, 21, 2017 in Akron, Ohio. You must be a Junior Order member to participate. If you would like more information, please contact Brother Wayne Franklin at 765-457-3734 |
